Recent research by golfsupport.com found that 72% of golfers now believe that their local golf memberships did not give value for their money. The survey involved 560 participants from towns across the UK.
The survey results are a great cause for concern for golf clubs as they already face the challenge of adding new members while retaining the existing ones. Adding new members and keeping existing subscriptions are important steps to ensure the very existence of the clubs in the long run.
However, given the attitude of patrons, as revealed by the survey, what can clubs possibly do to attract and retain memberships?

One of the possible conclusions from the above survey is that a reduction in membership fees can be the solution to attract more members, with many participants in the survey having revealed that the membership fees were becoming unaffordable.
However, participants also revealed that this did not mean that they would never want to become a member of a golf club.
