Regular maintenance of your utility vehicles is critical when you want to the most of your investment. Whether your utility vehicles are used to transport your patrons, employees or goods, it helps to tend to them regularly. That’s the best way to minimise repairs and extend their life.
Here are our top maintenance tips to care for your utility vehicles.
Charge the Batteries
Just like any electric device, your electric utility vehicle depends on batteries to function. Be sure to plug your utility vehicle whenever they are not in use. This way, your golf carts are ready to use whenever they are needed. You won’t ever have to worry about their battery level. What’s more, you can be sure, it won’t run out of juice mid-way.
Check the Battery’s Water Levels
For your batteries to work properly, their lead plates must be completely submerged in water. Be sure to check the water levels in the batteries to ensure they are submerged. If they are not, just add water to bring the level back up.
To do that, begin by fully charging the battery. Next, add distilled water, directly to the battery until the water level reaches the optimal level. Be sure to check the battery level once a month to keep any problems away.
Keep the Utility Vehicle Clean
The simplest way to keep your utility vehicle looking good at all times is to keep it sparkling clean at all times. If your golf cart is being used all through the day, then regular cleaning it is even more important.
Inspect the Brakes Once a Year
Utility vehicles are typically driven at slow speeds, which means their brakes won’t wear out as fast as the brakes on a motor car. However, be sure to inspect the brakes of your utility vehicle at least once a year. The brake pads, drums as well as cables must be inspected and even adjusted at least annually to ensure they are working correctly.
If you are not sure how to go about it, you can bring your utility vehicle to your nearest service centre.
Look Out for Oil Leaks
If you notice that your utility vehicle has been leaking oil, it could be because of the rear differential. If you notice oil on the ground around your utility vehicle, climb underneath it and check whether there’s any oil build up on the rear differential. An oil leak is a surefire sign of problem.
Have the problem looked into immediately to avoid any severe damage to your utility vehicle.
